Home Going Services for Alma Jean Smith will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 225 1st Ave SW. Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.


Alma Jean (McCarroll) Smith was the second born child to the union of Willie James McCarroll, Sr. and Lois Jean (Hennesy) McCarroll on Jan. 21, 1955 in Wynnewood, Okla.


A lifetime resident of Ardmore, Alma attended Dunbar Elementary School, Ardmore Douglass High School, and graduated from Ardmore High School with the class of 1973. She was a member of the Pep Club while she attended Ardmore Douglas High School and loved cheering for her older brother in football.


Alma was a loving and very caring person. She loved to babysit and care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and was always ready to plan for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. She will be well remembered by her nieces and nephews for her playful attitude, always saying or doing something to make them laugh. She will be greatly missed.


Alma met and married Rickie "Jackie" Smith shortly after she graduated high school, and to this union was born two sons, Ricky and Christopher. The marriage ended after a few years and Alma was blessed with a daughter Shamikka and another son, Dewayne.


On Nov. 22, 2019, Alma passed away bringing much grief and sorrow to her loved ones.


Alma is survived by three children; Christopher Smith, Dewayne Smith and fiance, Emily King, and Shamikka Smith; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Willie, J. McCarroll, Jr., Garland McCarroll and wife Barbara, Lawrence McCarroll, Craig McCarroll, Keith McCarroll and Cecil McCarroll and wife Connie; sisters, Drucilla McCarroll and Sharon Anderson and husband Danny; uncles, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie James McCarroll, Sr.; a son, Ricky Smith; and an infant daughter.


Pallbearers will be: Kevin McGee, DaQuon Anderson, Jeremy McCarroll, Brandon McCarroll, QuMitri Anderson and Kalen Scott. Honorary bearers will be: Danny Anderson, Darrell Hennesy, Ricky Smith, Jr., Amarly Smith. Flower Bearers will be: Demetria Bennett, Crystal McCarroll, QuaSonda Anderson, Donya Anderson, Dameesha McCarroll and Kenya McCarroll. Honorary Flower Bearers will be: Mark Franklin, Connie McGee-McCarroll and Emily King.
