Nancy Devereax McCleskey was born on Nov. 19, 1941 in Wilson. She passed away Nov. 30, 2019 in Ardmore.


She was the daughter of Samuel Earl Hefner and Dorothy Hefner.


She married Frank David McCleskey, Jr. on March 26, 1960 at United States Naval Station Chapel in San Diego. They had four children, David Wayne McCleskey, David Keith McCleskey, Danial McCleskey, and Samuel McCleskey. And many years later she married Jack Canada of Ardmore.


She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Dickson, where she thought of everyone as her extended family.


She was a foster parent for the State of Oklahoma where from 1978 to 1988 she had 74 children in her care. She adopted the last two children. She had and made them her own, Beth McCleskey and Willie McCleskey.


She retired from the City of Ardmore Schools in 1996 and bought some land in Dickson where she was the most happiest with her horses.


She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Sam and Dorothy Hefner. Sons, David Wayne and Danial McCleskey and her second husband Jack Canada.


She is survived by her sisters, Debrah Ledbetter and son, Travis of Ardmore and Patty Burke of Wilson. Sons, David Keith McCleskey, Ardmore, Samuel McCleskey and his wife Lisa of Ardmore, Willie McCleskey and daughter, Beth McCleskey. Grandsons, Dannial McCleskey, Oklahoma City, Michael McCleskey, Tulsa and great-grandson, Ian Blake, Norman.
