Hulen Boyd Musgrave

Hulen Boyd Musgrave was born February 12, 1935 in Ardmore, Ok to Walter Scott Musgrave and Bessie C Smith. Hulen passed away Friday, January 15, 2021. He attended school in Ardmore, graduated from high school in Iowa Park, Texas and attended Midwestern State College in Wichita Falls, Texas.

After serving in the Army of the United States from July 1954 to June 1956, he returned to Ardmore and started his 37 year long career at Ben Franklin Oil Refinery, later named Total Petroleum Refinery, now the Valero Refining Company. He took early retirement in April 1994 serving as Supervisor of the Instrumentation Department. He was a member of the 32nd degree Scottish Rite of Freemasons, since 1998. Hulen was very active in the community as a member of the Grand Lodge #25 of Oklahoma, Elks Lodge, and Loyal Order of Moose.

Hulen married Joyce Bolinger on July 27, 1957 and their son Robert Scott was born May 26, 1958. They made their home in Ardmore where he would make many lifelong friends through his community work and service. Hulen enjoyed playing golf as often as he could at the Lake Murray Golf course. After retirement, you could find Hulen on the course most mornings. Hulen loved OU football and a good glass of tea.

Hulen was preceded in death by his father, Walter Scott Musgrave, his mother, Bessie C Smith, his grandfather, Alex C Musgrave, and his grandmother, Mattie Musgrave Rice.

He is survived by his son Robert (Robby) and wife Susan, grandson Christopher Scott Musgrave and wife Andrea, granddaughter Elizabeth Musgrave Grim and husband Cody, all of Edmond. His first great grandchild is expected in April.

Hulen will be remembered and celebrated at a later date when it is safe for friends and family to gather.
