Tom Hays was a big man, standing 6 ft. 3, a mountain of a man; he was bigger than life and strong as an ox with a mild and easy unless provoked, just a big ole teddy bear. He was the baby of the family but the protector of all, including his older brothers, after becoming a teenager because he was the biggest and toughest of the bunch. Tom was born Nov 15, 1943, and left this world to be with Jesus on Jan 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hazel (Kellogg) Hays, two sisters, Mary Ruth Beale, Ann Richards, brothers Johnny, Frank, Raymond, and Richard Hays infant son "Baby Tommy."

As a young child, Tom grew up in Stigler, Oklahoma. His family then moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where he grew up as a teenager before moving back to Oklahoma to work and raise his own family.

Tom's family includes his pride and joy daughters, Tammy Rose Black, & husband Brandon, Hazel Rebecca Briley, and husband, Benjamin, Cindi Lee Rambo & husband, Alvin, his baby girl Ashley Amber Hays - Davis and husband Jay and Kathy's daughter Milissa Nichols and her husband, Joey. Tom also had a daughter who found him later in life, Sherry Jenkins (Wilheimer) & her children, whom he welcomed to the family. His grandchildren with their nicknames chosen mostly for each one by papa: Thomas Ray Wade (Shot or the Shotster). Emily Wade - Capt'n (Captain). Brody Black (Boomer Boy). Logan Newell (Buster). Lydia Briley (Toughie). And the Nichols' children Jacob (Bosco) & wife Kristen(who didn't have a chance to get a nickname; however, Nana Kathy said, "Kristen definitely would have had one with her spunky personality, and Bosco agreed. When discussing nicknames, Kristen told Jacob that when Papa saw her on the Alexa show, he said "whoa she's pretty" which is in her words was "better than a nickname," Jordan (J.C.), Kassie (Buttercup)and great-granddaughter Calvary Thompson (Tootie) and many special nieces and nephews and other family members.

Tom loved all his family with all his heart. Tom worked hard providing for his family as an entrepreneur operating Quality Landscape & Lawn Service for more than 40 years in Ardmore. Tom was a truck driver, salesman, and delivery driver for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and Double (H.H.) in his younger days in Ardmore, where he was the top salesman winning prizes awards throughout his career. Tom was often told to sell beachfront property in the desert with his dynamic personality and charisma, which many will sorely miss.
