Arnie (Ronnie) Scott Smith

Ardmore - Arnie (Ronnie) Scott Smith, age 74, peacefully passed away with his family by his side, on February 9, in Ardmore, Ok, following a brief illness.

Arnie was born on April 12, 1945, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was the third out of four children born to Edith Denham Smith and Everett Smith.

Arnie grew up in Comanche, OK. Arnie joined the Army in 1963 and went to boot camp in Fort Polk, LA, where he trained as a field communication crewman. In February 1964, Arnie was stationed in Korea, working in field communication and as a driver for many Generals, transporting them to other camps, as well as transporting injured soldiers to the hospital. In February 1965, Arnie was stationed on base in Fort Sill, Ok, where he trained in emergency care. In January 1966, he left Fort Sill for Vietnam; he left Vietnam in September 1966. When Arnie returned from the war, he lived in San Bernardino, California, for a short time, working at Harvey Aluminum. He then returned to Ravia, Oklahoma. It was at this time he started doing electrical work for Billy Hart.

He met the love of his life, Ramona Carper. Arnie and Ramona Smith were married on November 3, 1967. They have celebrated 53 years of marriage. Arnie and Ramona made their home in Mannsville, OK, where they raised their four children. Arnie worked for numerous electrical contractors before opening Arnie Smith Electric in 1992. He taught his sons how to do electrical work. He had the pleasure of working with his sons, daughter, and wife.

Arnie was most proud of his service in the military and his family. He enjoyed playing computer games, riding motorcycles, watching TV, fishing, playing with RC cars, and flying drones. Arnie loved to show his creative side by painting and taking pictures. He would never turn down a good cup of coffee or a root beer float. His grandchildren adored him and looked forward to going to his house, where he would spend hours playing with them. Arnie led by example, he showed his children that working hard, and having a good work ethic would take them places in life.

Arnie leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of the home, Ramona Carper Smith; three sons, Richard Smith and wife, Amanda of Keller, Texas, Michael Smith and wife, Shelly of Ardmore, OK, Paul Smith and wife, Missy of Mannsville, OK; daughter, Beverly Smith of Houston, TX; sister, Joyce Dawson of Ardmore, OK; grandchildren, Corey, Anthony and Jai Smith, Michaela, Emily, Waylon, Phoenix, and Jaylynn Smith, Kelsey Behrens, Courtney and Kailey Holybee, Elizabeth, Ashlee, and Sarah Leverett, Lola Smith and Maci McClellan.

Loved ones that have gone before him include his parents, Edith Denham Smith and Everett Smith; brother, Donald Smith; sister, Brenda Tinny; granddaughter, Lauren Smith.

Due to Covid 19, the family will be having a private service.
