Dwain Carroll Dube

Dwain Carroll Dube

Dwain Carroll Dube departed this life surrounded by his family on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. God carried Dwain the past six years through many health complications and due to a very recent hip fracture, Dwain could not recover.

Dwain Carroll Dube was born on November 25, 1941 in Kingsville, Texas to Herbert Gilbert Dube and Evelyn Hanna (Wuensche-Dube) Bell. Dwain's father passed away before his birth. Sometime after, his mother Evelyn married Mr. Bob Bell. Mr. Bell loved Dwain and Dwain's sister Phyllis as if they were his own.

Dwain attended and graduated from the Texas State School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas and was one of their star football and basketball players. Dwain had a great love for both of those sports and he was a big Dallas Cowboys Fan as well as an OU Sooners Fan! After high school, Dwain settled in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He worked for Home Interiors and Gifts for a period of time. Dwain was very involved with the Dallas Association of the Deaf and it was there that he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Worley) Hunter. They married on July 5, 1981. They lived in Irving, Texas and continued to be involved with the Dallas Association of the Deaf and the Fort Worth Association of the Deaf. Dwain loved Mary so much and would refer to her as "my wife." Mary came with six children, 5 sons and one daughter and eventually an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Dwain took in Mary's kids as if they were his own and loved them, their spouses and grandchildren with such an unconditional love!

In the mid 80's, Dwain began working for the United States Postal Service in Fort Worth, Texas where he and Mary lived until his retirement in 2009. He and Mary then moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Dwain loved God with his whole heart and being and he knew his salvation came from Yeshua the Messiah. Dwain was born deaf, but after his passing a friend of the family said, "the first thing Dwain will hear is the voice of the good shepherd."

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Ardmore, Oklahoma, sons Robert Hunter and wife Jo of Ardmore, Oklahoma, David Hunter and wife Anita of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Todd Hunter of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Greg Hunter and partner Donald Bishop of Dallas, Texas, George Hunter of Ardmore, Oklahoma, daughter Melinda Cox and husband Craig of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, sister Phyllis Kohls and husband Roger of Anna, Texas, brothers Glenn Bell and Robert Bell both of Tyler, Texas.
