Paul J. McGill
Services for Paul Jefferson McGill, 86, will be Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Michael Campbell officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Due to the Covid-19, those in attendance please wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
Paul was born August 8, 1934 at Adel, Oklahoma, the son of the late Sam A. McGill and Georgie Mae Dotson McGill. He passed away on February 12, 2021 in a local hospital.
Raised in Clayton, Oklahoma, he graduated from Clayton High School class of 1952. He and the former Barbara "Ellen" Brookey were married February 4, 1957. She preceded him in death October 21, 2015. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, one infant and Lynn McGill and sisters, Hazel Snow and Bazel Vann.
Paul worked in the shipyards of California; in construction in Wichita Falls, Texas; at Coopers Dairy here in Ardmore and then with Beetle Plastics, where he retired as plant production manager.
He was an avid coonhunter and was a member of the Oklahoma State Coonhunters Association. He raised and sold his dogs which went on to win numerous state and national competitions. He also enjoyed fishing and raised a few cows along the way. He always had a big thriving garden.
He is survived by his son Newell McGill and wife Paula of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Pauline Hendrix and husband Mark of Lone Grove; Pam McGill of Ada; Lisa Burroughs of Ardmore; and Linda Luttrell and husband Steve of Ardmore; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a few nieces.
Honorary bearers will be Mark Hendrix, Steve Luttrell, Tom Shannon, Wesley and Shawn Mote, Jerrod and Jordan Gentry and Grady Burroughs.
