Lawrence "Larry" Robert Bentley
Memorial services for Larry Bentley will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Thompson officiating. Due to the Covid-19, those in attendance please wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
Larry Robert Bentley, 73, passed away on February 4, 2021 in an Oklahoma City hospital. The son of the late Robert Donald and Frieda Mae Parks Bentley, Larry was born September 8, 1947 in Sayre, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Athens High School in Athens Pennsylvania, and joined the United States Navy in 1965. He served during the Vietnam Era and his final duty station was at Navsta Adak, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in November of 1969. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star; Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.
Larry married the love of his life Debbie Kay Sons, and from this union three children, Eric, Wendy and Lacey were born.
Larry worked for Atlas Roofing in Ardmore, and retired in 2010 after 38 years as roofing superintendent. He loved to collect old oil company signs. He was a member of the Central Church of Davis. His greatest love were his grandchildren. He followed all of their activities and was their biggest fan.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Debbie; son Eric Bentley; daughters, Wendy Castleman and husband Brent; Lacey Adams and husband Scotty; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Richard Bentley; Kayanna, Sevy, and Gage Adams; Claire Castleman; Britton, Keeley, Bryce Pruett. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews as well as special extended family members, Steve and Lesa Adams; C.R. and Melissa Pruett and Joey Adams. He was preceded in death by a brother Ronald and his sister Paula Aycox.
