Services for Helen Celestine Mapp, 88, will be Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Black officiating. Services will be live streamed at fbclonegrove.com. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery. Due to the Covid-19, those in attendance please wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 till 4:00 at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore.
Celestine was born February 3, 1933 in Simon, Oklahoma to the late Glenn E. and Essie Lorene Kemp Tapp. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2021.
She married Charles Wade Mapp, June 16, 1951 in Marietta, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death November 5, 1997. She later married Bob Sharp August 25, 2001 in Lone Grove and he preceded her death February 28, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bill and Ray Tapp.
Celestine had the heart of a giver and it showed in her life. She was a teacher, having touched the lives of many children in her years. She was named Teacher of The Year at Lone Grove. After retiring, she began volunteering for Cross Timbers Hospice, where she was named Volunteer of the Year. She also was a foster parent, and a long time member of the Lone Grove First Baptist Church.
She is survived two sons, Mark Mapp and wife Deanna of Lone Grove; and David Mapp of Mannsville; her daughter Kimberly McMahon and husband David of Ardmore; sisters, Lou Straughn and husband Glenn of Norman; Barbara Yarbrough of Sherman, TX; and Shirley Fittzsimmons and husband Barry of Moore, OK; stepchildren, Bobby Sharp and wife LuAnn of Marietta, OK; and Robyn Hodges and husband Todd of Decatur, TX; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Yarbrough, Kelly Walker, Bobby Sharp, Beau and Austin Pruitt and Chase Mapp.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Canoe Brook for the love and care they provided during Celestine's stay.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Cross Timbers Hospice in Celestine's name.
