Marietta - A memorial service for Eugene Howard, 63, of Marietta, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Eastside Baptist Church, Marietta with Pastor Brett Alberda officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
Born December 14, 1957 in Indio, California to Wilburn Lee and Evelyn (Lee) Howard, Eugene died Tuesday, March 16th at OU Medical Center, Oklahoma City, OK.
Eugene grew up and attended school in Turner, graduating with the Class of 1976. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, OK graduating with an electrical degree. Eugene worked for the Marietta Pants Factory from 1979 to 1987 and in 1987 he went to work for V.E. Enterprise & Dragon in Springer, OK as welder manufacturing tanks. In 2017 he retired after 30 years.
Eugene married the love of his life Karen Ann Wells on April 5, 1985 at the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. He loved fishing and being outdoors. Eugene enjoyed collecting things and telling jokes. Many things brought him great joy, but perhaps the thing he loved most was spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandkids.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn & Evelyn Howard; brothers, Thurman Howard, and Henry Howard; and sisters, Bertie Cummins, and Nadine Williams.
He is survived by his wife Karen Howard of the home; daughters, Amber Chill and husband Nick of Marietta, and Sarah Howard of Ardmore, OK; brothers, Charlie Howard of Leon, OK, and Monroe Howard and wife Janet of Waurika, OK; sisters, Louise Cummins of Wilson, OK, and Martha Rhodes of Leon; grandchildren, Aubry Chill, Gage Chill, Easton Chill, Ayanna Jones, Adrian Jones, Jr., and Jeno Jones.
Honorary Bearers are Nick Chill, Henry Cummins, Landon Hawkins, Michael Cummins, Donald Williams, and Patrick Williams.
