Graveside services for Marie Cornish are scheduled for Friday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Cornish Cemetery with Pastor Danny Huntsman officiating.
Helen "Marie" Cornish was born October 31, 1921 to Ida Mae (Phelps) and Lewis Stafford in Tulsa, OK. She passed from this life on June 7th at the age of 99.
On July 15, 1952 Marie married Wilton Cornish in Texas. From this marriage they had three children, Gayle, Rhonda and Buddy. Marie worked for Ardmore City Schools food services where she served hundreds of students until she retired from working full time at the age of 90. She was a member of the Shell St. Church of Christ in Healdton.
In her younger days, Marie enjoyed camping and going on trail ride trips with her husband. She was a talented gardener, baker, cook, and seamstress. For fun, Marie loved playing Skip-bo, dominoes, and going on shopping trips with her friends. She also enjoyed picking pecans, watching the Dallas Cowboys and OU Sooners, and most of all spending time with her family.
Marie was preceded in death by her Husband Wilton Cornish; parents Ida Mae and Lewis Stafford; brothers J. Ernest "Red" Stafford and Lloyd "Peanut" Stafford; and son Larry Graves.
She is survived by her son Buddy Cornish; daughters Rhonda Johnston and her husband Danny Blackburn, Gayle Elrod, Judy Graves, and Bobbie Russell; grandchildren Derik Johnston and his wife Jaxie, Natasha McAfee and her husband Dustin, Heather Coughlan and her husband Kevin, and Mandy Battice; 9 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Billie Cornish; and special nieces and nephews.
Buddy Cornish, Danny Blackburn, Derik Johnston, Dustin McAfee, Robert Cornish and Kevin Coughlan will serve as pallbearers.
