Rex Dale Taylor
Ardmore - Rex Dale Taylor passed away on June 11, 2021 at his Ardmore home with his loving wife Sue by his side. He was 85 years old. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Rex was born on January 5, 1936 in Okemah, OK to Rex and Margie Mae (Yadon) Taylor. He grew up in Okemah and graduated from Velma HS in 1953. He then entered the US Air Force and married Rita Sue Southerland on June 9, 1956 in Dothan, AL. After receiving an honorable discharge from active duty, he earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Central State University in Edmond, Ok. Retiring from Marconi Communications in 2001, his career as a computer programmer had spanned over 30 years. During his career, he also worked with North American, NCR and the United States Government. Rex wrote and co-wrote programs during the 60's and 70's for many revolutionary projects, including involvement with the Apollo 13.
Throughout his career, his service to our country continued in the Army Reserve. He achieved the rate of Sergeant Major. He was proud to serve and instilled patriotism in his family.
Rex lived in Ardmore for 5 years, coming from Fort Worth. He was a man of faith, and he and Sue enjoyed their membership with Emmanuel Baptist Church.
His patience and ability to build or fix anything were admired by many, especially those he and Sue worked with during their service with Texas Baptist Men.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Sue; sons Richard Rex and Robert Don; daughter Sunni Rochelle (Taylor) Archuleta; sister Patricia Curtis; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
