Ardmore - Alasjaa was Ardmore's first baby of 2003 - 01/02/03
She was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the parents of VerCora Herbert and Steven Roberts. Alasjaa lived in Oklahoma City for 8 years and then moved to Texas in 2011. Alasjaa accepted Christ and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas in October of 2015.
Alasjaa loved to dance, draw, create skits for church, teach Vacation Bible School to the youth and participate in church events at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Gene Autry, Oklahoma. She joined the praise dance team at St. John Baptist Church and she continued to do that at The Potter's House of Fort Worth, TX.
Alasjaa made the 2018 Star Steppers Drill Team at Saginaw High School in Fort Worth, Texas. She became the JV Squad Captain in 2019. Alasjaa has a passion for make-up and fashion design; she wanted to start her own clothing line. She started the process of moving closer to her goals. In 2020 Alasjaa took advantage of distance learning due to COVID. Alasjaa finished high school in December of 2020 while working at Walmart. She then moved her employment to Amazon (warehouse) in Coppell, TX. Alasjaa walked with her class at Saginaw High School and graduated on May 29th, 2021. Alasjaa planned on attending cosmetology school the Fall of 2021, in Denton, TX.
Alasjaa had directed a play entitled "Josephina" for the Chickasaw District Youth Explosion moderated by Kirk D. Rushing.
Alasjaa is preceded in death by her grandmothers - Florene Herbert & Pauletta Herbert and her uncle Quentin Stevenson.
Alasjaa received her crown on Sunday, June 27th, 2021. Leaving to cherish her memories are her mom and dads, VerCora & Jamie Johnson and Steven Roberts, her papa - Joseph Herbert, her grandma - Jackie Roberts, her brothers, her sisters, her uncles, her aunties and numerous other family & friends.
A Celebration of Life for Alasjaa D. Herbert will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Pastor Kirk D. Rushing conducting the Eulogy. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Gene Autry, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
