Karen Shetterly

Ardmore, OK - Karen Leigh Shetterly was born December 1, 1953 to Hope (Kraatz) and Robert Byrkit in Seatle, WA. She passed from this life on November 21, 2021 at the age of 67.

Karen grew up the daughter of a Pilot, moving often. She spent her childhood years in Minnesota before moving to California where she graduated high school. The thing she held closest to her heart was her marriage to Wayne Shetterly that gave her two beautiful children from that union. She always reminded them how proud she was of their accomplishments and who they had grown up to be. Karen always made sure to sign every card "I love you unconditionally until my last breath" and that she did. She enjoyed making food for others. Karen was a great cook, and she came by it naturally, often never using recipes and knew just what to add to make her food taste great. Her grandchildren were her world, quick to tell anyone what they were up to and loved sharing pictures of them. She was her grandchildren's biggest fan. No matter what they did, she quickly became their cheerleader. Karen was a thoughtful gift giver who put everyone else's welfare above her own. Her giving heart made donations a part of who she was, without needing recognition. Karen was a breast cancer survivor, always making sure everyone wore pink. She participated in relay for life and looked forward to her victory lap each year.

Beyond her love for her children and grandchildren, her other two loves for anyone that knew her, knew she was a die hard Raider fan and animal lover. She stood up for what she believed in, and you could always count on her to give you her opinion. She will be missed most for her daily calls and text messages to friends and family checking in to make sure everyone's day was okay.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Hope and Robert Byrkit and sister Cindi Grissom.

She is survived by her son Robert Shetterly and his wife Melissa; daughter Megan Shetterly and her fiancé Michael Langford; brother Greg Byrkit and his wife Debbie of Hayward, CA; grandchildren Brooklyn and Beckham Langford and Kilah Shetterly; nephews David and Ryan Byrkit of Hayward, CA; and sister by heart Kathy Weldon of Ardmore.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Rosehill Cemetery with Kirk Blancett officiating.
