Services for Charles E. Treadwell of Marietta, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta with Lawrence Anderson officiating and Pastor Shane Norton assisting. Services have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
Charles was born Oct. 11, 1932 in Montague County, Texas to Charles Emanuel and Dovie Gladys (Harper) Treadwell. He passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 at Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta at the age of 87.
Charles spent most of his life in Love County. He married Gladys Dvorak on Oct. 7, 1952 in Gainesville, Texas. They moved to Marietta in 1971 and opened Chuck’s Garage. Charles owned and operated the garage for many years until he went to work for Lake Murray State Park as the maintenance supervisor. He worked for them for 30 years before retiring. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, mowing and tending to the yard. Some of his other interests included traveling, playing board games and painting. Charles was a father figure to many, and he loved to visit and go out to eat with friends and family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Treadwell; son-in-law, Jimmy Williams; two sisters, Pauline Reynolds and Mary Christie; and great-granddaughter, Victory Faith Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Treadwell of the home; two daughters, Tabby Campbell and husband Jim Bob of Marietta and Anna Williams of Marietta; sister, Marie Chester of California; 10 grandchildren, Chad Treadwell, B.J. Williams, Gary Williams, Larry Williams and wife Patricia, Nathan Thogmartin and wife Jammi, Neil Thogmartin and wife Joni, Jered Treadwell and wife Amanda, Aaron Rudd and wife Jenny, Telina Rudd and wife Shelly, and David Spradling; and 17 great-grandchildren, Cashlyn Williams, Journi Williams, Clayton Williams, Kyra Treadwell, Creed Treadwell, Michael Treadwell, Chase Treadwell, Harper Thogmartin, Jenner Thogmartin, Calyxx Thogmartin, Logunn Thogmartin, Koby Treadwell, Kylin Treadwell, Ethan Rudd, Ava Rudd, Miles Rudd, and Cohen Rudd.
Serving as casket bearers are Chad Treadwell, Gary Williams, Larry Williams, B.J. Williams, Telina Rudd, and Jered Treadwell. Honorary bearers are remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Larry Elkins.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
