Services for Curtis Oscar Stone, 85, will be Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Cheek Baptist church, officiated by Reverend Ron Elmore. Burial will follow at Cheek Cemetery with the assistance of Billy, Curtis Wayne, Lee, James and Troy Stone, and Michael Morris.
A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Curtis was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Magnolia, Ark., the son of the late Willis Edward and Elizabeth Smith Stone and passed from life to life eternal Sunday May 31, 2020, at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 7 days in Buffalo, Mo.
Reared in Magnolia, Ark., Curtis had lived in southern Louisiana and in the Ardmore, Lone Grove area for over 30 years. He and the former Wynemma Price were married Jan. 7, 1956 in Texarkana, Ark. He served in the National Guard and enjoyed fishing. Curtis was a welder, and worked for Semco of Springer and for himself. After his divorce from Wynemma, he married Peggy Bernice Miller on April 11, 1992 in Gainesville, Texas. They had moved to Lebanon, Mo., about three years ago.
Survivors include his wife Peggy of the home, sons, Curtis Wayne and Jerry Stone; daughters, Barbara Ann Falk; Belinda Brantley, Devra Norvell, Tonya Cain and Corissa Fouts; his stepchildren, T. J. Jarrell, Donald and Billy Hubbard; Patricia Stone, Dixie Johnson, Carroll Ortis, Odessa Held and Barbara Stamm. He is also survived by his brother Wilford Lee Stone, 37 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers William Edward Stone Sr. and James Carlton Stone and an infant sister.
