Phillip George Birdsall

Phillip George Birdsall, 85, of Ardmore, OK, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022. His journey in life began in Marietta, OK on June 9, 1936, the son of Thomas E. and Nora E. (Hartman) Birdsall.

Phillip was a longtime area resident and a graduate with the Marietta High School Class of 1958. After high school, he ran the Birdsall Café before joining the United States Air Force on November 14, 1955. Phillip was a cryptographer in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1961. He worked for Haliburton for five years as a cementer before following his career path with American Airlines in 1966. Phillip retired as a Crew Chief over ground services in 1996.

Phillip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting quail. He also enjoyed working in his yard where he received the beautification award. Phillip was a member of the Merrick Drive Church of Christ. He loved picking up and caring for his grandchildren after school. Although Phillip had many interests, his favorite was spending time with his family.

Phillip is survived by daughters, Cynthia Kaye Birdsall of Ft. Worth, TX and Carolyn Sue Stewart and husband Danny of Burneyville, OK; grandchildren, George Emerson “Emery” Floyd and wife Nicolle, U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Floyd, Payten Shea Stewart, and Jacob Seth Stewart; and greatgrandchildren, Skylar Floyd, Waylon Floyd, Gunner Floyd, and Hadley Floyd.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by twin sisters, Maxine and Maude Birdsall; brothers, Thomas E. Birdsall, Richard Birdsall, and Harold Birdsall; mother of daughters, Faye Birdsall; and beloved Schnauzer, Christie.

A funeral service for Phillip will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel of Marietta with Bro. Ron Benedick officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary bearers are Emery Floyd, Caleb Floyd,
