It’s no secret that we all experience our fair share of ups and downs in life, especially during a grueling season. The Plainview High School softball team will be the first to tell you that, as the Lady Indians couldn’t find a spark Tuesday during a 16-2 setback to Purcell.
Plainview needed a win to give itself a shot to clinch a District 4A-4 crown, but instead the Lady Indians finished second with a 12-2 mark in district action – with both losses to district champion Purcell.
Nevertheless, Plainview still gets to host a Class 4A Regional on Thursday, Oct. 4 and Friday, Oct. 5. The opponent is to be determined.
Switching gears to Tuesday’s game, Landree Upshaw led the Lady Indians with a two-run single, while Kamrey Martin and Ally Brown each tallied a hit. Upshaw started the game and struck out two, while Kaylee Rudd pitched an inning and Jazmin McGee notched a pair of punchouts in 2 2/3 frames of relief.
Plainview (18-12) is back home at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 to battle Santa Fe South before hosting Ardmore at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 to conclude the regular season.
