A Gathering of Remembrance will be held for Robert Wayne Hobbs, 62, Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. The son of the late Johnny Claude “Buddy” Hobbs and Larretta Eyvonne Garrett West, Robert was born October 13, 1959 at Camp Wolters, Texas, and left this earth for his eternal home on June 23, 2022. Robert served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in August 1987.

Robert received his RN degree from Murray State College and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Central University. He worked at Mercy Hospital and also helped out at local nursing homes.

He and the former Robin Houghland were married November 2, 1979 and would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary later this year.

Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing. He refurbished old guns, and worked on them. He would reload his own ammo and loved taking his family out shooting and target practice.

He is survived by his wife Robin, daughters, Tiffany Thompson and her significant other Aaron Farmer; and Courtney Stanley and husband Rodney; his son Buddy Hobbs and his significant other Donovan Porter; his granddaughters, Elkahna Stanley; Alexis, Aliyah and Aizyah Farmer; brothers Johnny Hobbs, Jr.; Kenneth Hobbs, Eddie Hobbs and Rodney West and his sister Ellen Hobbs. His sister Anna Witt preceded him in death.
