The son of Carroll D. Butler and Opal Ruth (Stephens) Butler, Ronny was born on September 11, 1955, in Altus, Okla., and passed away on August 14, 2022, at his Ardmore, residence at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 3 days. He and the former Sherri Lynn Claxton were married on July 28, 1979, in Healdton.
The son of an oilfield engineer, Ronny grew up in Paris, France, Sahara Desert, Algiers, Algeria, and Carmi, Illinois. The family moved back to Ardmore when Ronny was in the eighth grade. He graduated from the Ardmore High School in the class of 1974. Ronny had worked in the oilfield as an H2S Safety Supervisor. In his leisure time, he loved to hunt deer, dove and quail. Ronny really loved attending family reunions every year, where they would play Rook and 42. He was a member of the Ardmore Elks Lodge 1906 and the Asbury United Methodist Church. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Sherri; daughter, Ronna Russell and husband Jason; grandsons, Jayden Butler and JJ Russell; sister, Vicki Cranford and husband Kevin; brother, Kevin Butler; sister, Stephanie Teacle and husband Charles; nieces, Jessica Buck, Kristin Roberts and husband Clay, and Emily Shrader and husband Justin; nephews, Drew Butler and Austin Teacle. Preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Opal Ruth Butler; son, Bobby Butler; maternal grandparents, Elmer Stephens and wife Grace; paternal grandparents, Dee Butler and wife Vesta. Funeral services for Ronny Keith “Cannonball” Butler will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Randal Richards officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Park with Billy Bean, Boston Buck, Clay Roberts, Justin Shrader, Drew Butler and Jacob Tynes assisting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jayden Butler and JJ Russell.
