How do you feel SouthernTech compares to other state technical schools?

SouthernTech, which began in 1966, is crucial for local economic growth by providing a skilled workforce, catering to high school students and adults. We currently offer 28 full-time programs, seeing an increase in enrollment. In addition to full-time day courses like Aviation, Architecture, Construction Careers, Business Management, Health Science Careers, Cosmetology, Information Technology, Law and Public Safety, Manufacturing, Transportation, and many more. SouthernTech also provides a variety of additional services. These include GED/HSE, Credit Recovery, adult training, safety courses, customized training for local businesses, and internships, all designed to address the specific needs of employers in the region, contributing to SouthernTech’s growth and student success. Southern Tech also partners with our higher education institution, such as Murray State College, which accepts the credits from SouthernTech in various areas of study.

What is your vision for SouthernTech?

SouthernTech’s mission is “To be the premier technology center that develops a modern, highly skilled, and efficiently trained workforce to close the national skills gap.” Therefore, as a board member that is my vision.

If you could change one thing about SouthernTech, what would it be?

I hope to see our enrollment grow even further. It’s important for our communities to learn more about Southern Tech and the benefits of attending the institution.
