SouthernTech candidate Q&A: Jack Jones

My name is Jack Jones. I was born in Ardmore and have lived in the Dickson area my whole life. I graduated from Dickson High School and attended SouthernTech, where I studied HVAC. With over 30 years in the plumbing trade, I own Service Plumbing Inc., a family business serving our community for 75 years.

Why have you chosen to run for the SouthernTech board?

SouthernTech helped shape my career. I want to ensure students continue to have access to hands-on training for in-demand jobs.

How does your background make you the best candidate?

As a business owner in the trades, I understand industry needs and will advocate for training that leads to real careers.

How do you feel SouthernTech compares to other technical schools?

It offers strong programs but can expand to better meet workforce demands.

What is your vision for SouthernTech?

Strengthen trade programs, build local industry partnerships, and prepare students for successful careers.

If you could change one thing about SouthernTech, what would it be?

I’d push for a plumbing program since none exist in our area despite high demand.
