Davis topped Murray County rival Sulphur twice to win its home tournament.

Davis 3, Sulphur 1

Seniors Macie Buckaloo and Jolie Romine both went a perfect 2-of-2 and sophomore pitcher Lauren Son allowed one run on seven hits with two strikeouts as the Lady Wolves hoisted the trophy on their home field Saturday evening.

Romine was a clutch performer for Davis.

In the home half of the first, she lined an RBI triple into right field that scored Lynsey Martin, who was hit by a pitch. Romine proceeded to advance home on an errant throw by a Sulphur outfielder for a 2-0 Davis lead.

In the third, Romine ignited a two-out rally with a single, and after a Buckaloo single, scored on a steal of home, increasing Davis’ lead to 3-0.

Sulphur’s lone run came courtesy of Payton Szalaj, who scored on a passed ball in the top of the fifth.

Son won a pitcher’s duel over Sulphur’s Taylor McAlister (three runs on five hits).

Davis 2, Sulphur 1

Buckaloo singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the third to lift the Lady Wolves to the first of two wins over the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday.

In the top of the second, Sulphur’s Abby Beck knotted the score at 1-1 with an RBI single.

Buckaloo doubled in the home half of the first to put Davis ahead 1-0.

Buckaloo and Joden Snyder each had two hits.

Buckaloo notched the complete-game victory.
