Ardmore’s first three hitters posted an .800 on-base percentage. Making 15 total plate appearances, Caity Sparlin, Morgan Chavez and Lexi Duff reached base 12 times.

The Lady Tigers’ lead-off hitter, Sparlin went 4 for 4 and reached as a hit batsman. Chavez, also a senior, went 2 for 3, driving in a run with a bases-loaded walk and reaching as a hit batsman. Duff, who drove in Ardmore’s first run with a double, went 2 for 4 with an RBI walk.

Chloe Pender added her first career home run, a walk-off three-run shot, in support of Duff, who struck out nine in Ardmore’s 13-3 win Tuesday.

Ardmore (8-5, 5-1 District 5A-2) won its fifth consecutive district game.

“They made adjustments early on, which was good,” Ardmore coach Charli Crawford said. “Those first three hitters, they’re good kids and they have a really good eye for the ball, they’re patient and they get their pitch that they can hit. They’ve been doing a really good job of that.”

Sparlin led off with a double. Chavez advanced her to third with a groundout. Duff’s single drove in her senior teammate.

An inning later, Chavez drew a bases-loaded walk that gave Ardmore the lead for good.

Chavez, a senior, wasn’t satisfied.

“Tonight, I didn’t do as I could have by seeing the ball,” she said. “That’s just something I’ve got to work on and go into the cage, keep the speed up and momentum going, shake it off and move on to the next game, see what I can do better (then).”

Sparlin had two doubles and two singles.

“It feels amazing,” she said. I’ve just been hitting every day and practicing, getting better every day. It’s finally showing on the field.”

Pender’s home run was her third hit. She also reached base once as a hit batsman—and drove in a game-high 5 RBIs.

“It was awesome,” she said. “It just felt so easy coming off the bat. Great feeling.”

The Lady Tigers wasted a bases-loaded situation with no one out in the third.

An inning later, leading 2-1, they pounced. Sparlin led off with a double. Chavez reached as a hit batsman. Two hitters later, Madisen Moore hit an infield single to load the bases. Lauren Blankenship followed, deposting a two-run single over Jaden Colvin’s head and to her left. Pender added a two-run double. Haley Long added an infield single.

The next hitter, Emma Nightengale, pulled a two-run single down the third-base line, out of Saidey Smith’s reach.

Two hitters later, Sparlin reached as a hit batsman as Ardmore batted around. Chavez’s infield single loaded the bases. Duff walked to drive in a run.

Sparlin singled to lead off the sixth. Chavez singled. Duff’s bloop single plated Sparlin, her third RBI—and marked the 12th time the Lady Tigers’ top three hitters reached base.
