BETHANY — Runners from the Plainview girls cross country team swept the top 8 spots as the Lady Indians won the meet at Bethany Thursday.

Plainview’s 15 points marked the minimum total, 72 points clear of Newcastle, which finished second.

Kyleigh Norris won. Darian Barnes, Ali Harris, Rebecca Warden and Faith Lloyd comprised the rest of the runners who scored points.

The Plainview boys cross country team finished second in the meet at Bethany Thursday.

Jacob Johnson, Taylon Chambers, Scotty Maxey, Taylor Lloyd and Ben Hicks scored points for Plainview, which scored 104 points.

Bethany won with 26 points.

On Tuesday in Velma, Plainview finished sixth with 197 points.

Ben Hicks (19:02) ran as a member of the junior-varsity team. He finished third among Plainview runners. Brenson Cross (20:00) and Carlos Otero (20:13) finished fifth and seventh among Plainview runners, respectively. Watkins edged Otero by less than a hundredth of a second.
