QUINTON — The Class A No. 7 Ringling Lady Devils are headed back to the Class A fastpitch state tournament for the second year in a row.
Kass Perkins ignited a nine-hit performance with a 3-for-4, four-RBI performance at the plate and Angel Stoker struck out eight in an 8-0 shutout of 11th-ranked Davenport on Friday afternoon.
The victory capped off a dominant performance for Ringling (22-3) in the two-day regional tournament.
The Lady Devils outscored their opponents 26-1 in the three games.
“We are tickled to death,” Ringling coach Steve Pybas said. “Nothing is a given. The girls have worked their tails off. Going on the road and playing is not easy. Quinton is a three-and-a-half hour drive. The kids played well and responded and took care of business.”
Perkins finished the tournament 8 for 11.
Stoker struck out 32 and didn’t allow a walk.
Lewis finished Friday’s game with two doubles.
In the first inning, London Lewis led off with a double, advanced to third base on a bunt and scored on an RBI double by Stoker.
Perkins made it 2-0 Lady Devils with an RBI groundout.
Ringling tacked on five runs in the fourth to blow the game open.
Perkins cleared the bases with a three-run double, and in the sixth, connected on a one-run double.
