Class 3A state boys and girls cross champion Marietta will be well-represented at Saturday’s Meet of Champions at Irving Middle School in Norman. 

Individual state champion Zane Nutter is one of eight Indians who will run. Bolton Fortune, Chase Waterhouse and Alex Sanchez will join Nutter. 

The list of Lady Indians is headlined by state runner-up Mandy Sykora. Gracie Cain, Vegas Bell and River Pierce are also slated to compete.

Two weeks ago, Marietta’s girls won the 3A state title for the fourth year in a row while its boys finished on top of the standings for the second consecutive year.

Plainview’s girls were rewarded with two selections in Kyleigh Norris and Rebecca Warden who paced the Lady Indians to a third-place finish in Class 3A. 

Darian Barnes and Ali Harris are on the ‘waiting list.’ 

They will be notified on the status of their entry after the deadline has passed for Classes 5A and 6A which was scheduled for Monday.

Kingston’s Gracye Werth will represent the Lady Redskins. 

The girls race starts at 9 a.m. with the boys to follow at 9:45. 

The distance of each race will be 5 kilometers. 

The top 10 finishers in the state meet from each classification gained automatic entry into the Oklahoma/Arkansas Meet of Champions. 

Every runner will receive a plaque for their participation and medals will be awarded to the top 20 finishers.
