ENID — It’s only January, but Plainview’s track and field is ready to get a head-start on its quest for another state championship.

That journey began Saturday at the Enid Indoor Meet.

Plainview won nine events, six by the Lady Indians, whose team score of 141 points was 61 more than runner-up Duncan (80). The Indian boys took 2nd.

Plainview accounted for three of the top four finishes in the girls 3,200-meter run. Kyleigh Norris (12 minutes, 52.16 seconds) was the winner. Ali Harris (13:09.06) was the runner-up. Emily Butler (13:34.17) placed fourth. 

Rebecca Warden (2:36.09) won the 800-meter run and Caroline Harris (2:44.66) ran to bronze. 

In the one-mile run (1,600 meters), Faith Lloyd (6:02.24) was crowned champion, Harris (6:11.92) placed third and Harris (6:14.94) finished in the fifth position. 

Riley Heller (4-6) started the defense of her state title in the high jump with another win. 

Abby Bilsbury attained 11-feet even to capture gold in the pole vault. Greta Russell (9-0) took fifth. 

In the shot put, Sami Skelly (39-11) and Rylee Keith (33-11.5) placed first and third, respectively. Arielle Sauer (15-0) was third in the long jump. 

Plainview’s girls 4x800 (10:44.57) was the runner-up, while its 640-meter relay (1:32.88) took fifth.

Sommers Bowker (1:06.88) was runner-up in the 400. 

Madill also competed in Enid. In the 3,200, Daniela Hernandez (13:16.97) took third and Ariana Salinas (13:45.81) placed fifth. In the 1,600, Fatima Duenez (6:13.95) placed fourth. The Lady Wildcats’ 4x800 (11:24.3) took fourth.

On the boys side, Plainview’s Dalton Bowden, won the 3,200-meter run (11:17.62) and was runner-up in the 1,600 meters (5:04.48). 

Plainview’s 4x800 (8:49.35) ran to bronze. 

The Indians’ 1,280-meter relay (2:54.21) took third, while their 640 relay (1:18) placed fourth. 

Stephen Bilsbury (13-6)  was second in the vault. 

Also, Benjamin Hicks (5:05.42) ran to bronze in the 1,600 meters, Taylor Lloyd (11:52.66) was fourth in the 3,200-meter run, Josh Jones (2:14.18) placed fourth in the 800, Spencer Somerville (18-7) was fourth in the long jump, Parker Foster (6.99) placed fifth in the 55-meter dash and Lane Ross (42-7) took fifth in the shot put.

Madill’s Dylan Parnacher (55.8) ran to silver in the 400, pacing the Wildcats to ninth place.
