After being handed a tough regional draw, the Ardmore Lady Tigers knew they had their work cut out for them on Tuesday in Midwest City.
Unfortunately, the odds proved to be too much for Ardmore to handle as they were eliminated from the regional tournament with losses to Guthrie and Carl Albert.
A score from the game against the Lady Titans was not available as of press time.
Ardmore ended its season with an overall record of 13-18.
In the game against the Lady Blue Jays, Ardmore took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
Kenya Palmer scored on a passed ball to give the Lady Tigers the advantage.
Guthrie took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, before Palmer tied the game with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth.
But Guthrie came back with three more runs in the bottom half of the fourth to regain the lead at 6-3.
Kalie Douglas gave Ardmore some life in the top of the fifth when her ground ball resulted in an error, allowing Lauren Blankenship to score to make it 6-4.
However, Guthrie had an immediate answer as the Lady Jays scored five runs to lead 11-4.
But in the top of the sixth, Ardmore found a groove which chipped away at the deficit.
Makila Case made it 11-6 with a two-RBI double to left field, before Blankenship forced an error with her fly ball which allowed Case to score.
Reagan Lewis then made it 11-8 as she slapped an RBI single to third.
Ardmore then got to within two runs as Shakira Smith got a ground ball to go through for an RBI single.
But a four-run sixth inning spelled doom for Ardmore as they couldn’t respond in the seventh.
Palmer finished the game 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI’s in the game.
Lewis was 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Avery Lowe was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Case was 1-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI’s, while Blankenship was 1-for-5 with two runs scored.
Savannah Marris took the loss on the mound, throwing six innings. She allowed 17 hits with six walks.
