State Rep. District 48 Q&A: April Brown

My name is April Brown, I am married to a wonderful man, Damon Brown, and we have four daughters, three granddaughters and a grandson. I grew up in Elmore City. I served in the Oklahoma National Guard and in the United States Army. During my military career I served in several roles, including logistics, movement command, administrative command, deployment readiness and leadership training. All of these experiences have aided in who I am. I have also worked for the Department of Defense Schools in Europe, Department of Defense and I currently working at Pauls Valley Schools.

Why are you the best candidate for the job?

I believe in our Constitutional Republic and what our forefathers gave us. That means as a Republican I will secure our rights. I will honor my oath to the constituents by continuing to protect our freedoms and lower our tax burden. I will refuse any lobbyist or political action committee money to include trips or gifts. I will be accountable to my constituents. I will also be accountable to the Republican Party and its platform, which means voting according to the standards “We The People” of Oklahoma have voted on at our state convention. Currently the incumbent has a 28.70% as a scorecard from the Republican platform, I will achieve higher ratings. I know I am a very fiscal conservative person and my spending during this campaign will prove it. I am the grassroots candidate, because I am working for the people and that means knocking doors, not fundraising.

Describe your professional background?

My employment record speaks for me: “April has consistently impressed me with her dedication, professionalism, and exceptional work ethic. She consistently met or exceeded all performance goals, demonstrated strong leadership skills, and worked extremely well with our students and staff.” “April lives her life with disciplined respect for others and expects that from students in her care.” “Her classroom is always a structured and proper learning atmosphere for our students.” My military leader’s words, “Dedicated to mission accomplishment and Army goals.” “Has the will and courage to succeed, no matter what the task”. “Displayed honest concerns for welfare and training of soldiers.” “Uncompromising personal integrity and dedication to duty.” “Attacks every mission with vigor and enthusiasm.” Bottomline: my professional background shows that no matter the task, I have the ability to succeed. As your next State Representative for House District 48, I will secure our Constitutional Rights without compromise.

Carter County has been hit hard by the impending loss of Michelin. As a State Rep., what will you do to ensure economic recovery?

My first question is why is Michelin closing? It’s my understanding they have been given financial assistance from the city and our government. Whether that’s true, I am not 100% certain. Isn’t this company from France? Aren’t they leaving because it’s cheaper to produce in Mexico? What I do know is the incumbent voted to give millions of taxpayer funds to NBE elite, who kneeled and disrespected our NATIONAL ANTHEM. Why are soldiers such as myself who served faithfully not being respected? What happened to Patriotism for our American Flag and National Anthem. We need to encourage American made, American produced, American backed products with quality work. We are not a welfare state and our economy will rebound if we lower our tax burden, which is what the Republican Platform says.

What do you feel needs to take place in the legislature to ensure stronger schools in the district?

Our school system should be educating students on math, reading, writing, science and history. If our teachers will focus on that we will have a stronger school. Currently we are ranked 49th in the nation. My question is why? I know the department of education receives the most funds and our test standards should reflect that allocation, but they don’t. While I served in the military my soldiers were subject to monthly counseling. If they did not perform to standard, it became a negative counseling. If they met the time in service to be promoted, they had to have my recommendation based on performance. If teachers are not able to perform their duties and tests are lower than expected, why would we allow them our most precious innocent and easily influenced generation? Yet we have several amazing teachers who go above the standard, reward them with promotions.

What do you feel the state needs to focus on in the 2025 Legislative Session?

Reducing the current tax burden, stopping illegals from entering our state, preventing further infringement on our Constitutional rights, enacting election reform, ending the costly welfare programs, restoring conservative values and opposing Biden’s FBI and ATF police state. We must protect all of our rights but the 1st Amendment, 2nd Amendment and 4th Amendment are under attack from Biden. This is why on June 18 you must elect me, April Brown to protect House District 48.
