Stephan Mark Woodruff was born 10 January 1965 to Howard and Jean Woodruff. He lived in the Ardmore, Oklahoma area, spending a good majority of his childhood growing up and working on the family ranch in Ringling the Circle Cross. It was here he developed his love of hunting and riding. A good weekend was riding off on the ranch with only his dog and gun. He later became a skilled bow hunter stalking deer, wild pigs, and turkey from sunrise to sunset. There was not a day which passed that his bow was still on the bow rack. Stephan attended Ardmore High School graduating with the Class of 1983. He participated in many sports swimming, cross country, and baseball excelling in them. He also enjoyed golf and football as well as gaming. Stephan briefly attended college before enlisting in the Army on 22 May 1990, being stationed first at JBER in Alaska then Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. He was honorably discharged on 14 April 1995 with the rank of sergeant. He was also a member of American Legion Post 0381 in Brandywine, Maryland. After his military service, Stephan drove trucks before finally settling into a career as a lineman. Eventually he became a foreman for his crews working in the oil fields on high voltage lines. He worked first for Lynn Boyer Inc. then moved to Sooner Electric Company and earned his master electrician’s license. Stephan passed away on 6 October 2022 and leaves behind his beloved children Cortlan, Hayley, Carson and Olivia as well as a brother Howard Woodruff, II, of Norman, OK; and sisters May (Rebecca) Sovo and her husband Lenn of Elgin, OK; Midge Deere and her husband John of Ardmore, OK; and Kimberly Woodruff Drain and her husband John of Invercargill, New
Zealand. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard Leonard Woodruff and Jean Margaret (Smith) Woodruff, along with brothers James (Jimmy) Edward Woodruff and William Scott (Bill S.) Woodruff. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Woodruff, Daniel Miller and his Army Ranger brothers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Paws of War with information located on their website pawsofwar.org /donate-today Graveside Services will Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK with Lloyd Heminokeky officiating and under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home. In accordance to Stephan’s wishes, his services will only last approximately 20 minutes.
