Permission to grow

A building boom is coming to Market Street shopping center on 12th Avenue NW. The City of Ardmore has recently issued building permits to FFO Home, Burkes Outlet, Schlotzsky’s and Dairy Queen, and construction should begin sometime in the near future.

Community Development Director Jessica Scott said that typically the demand for building permits slows down in the winter months, but this year has been an exception to the rule.

“A lot is going on in Ardmore right now,” Scott said. “People are really wanting to invest and build, and I think that’s a great sign. Things normally slow down from the end of the year up until around tax season, but so far we’ve stayed really busy.”

Burkes Outlet and FFO Home will be located towards the back of the Market Street center on either side of Academy Sports and Outdoors. Burkes will be located to the east and FFO Home will be to the west.

On the front side of the center, both Schlotsky’s and Dairy Queen will be located east of Panda Express. In addition to these two new structures, another multi tenant building will be going up next door to Panda Express. This building will contain a nail salon, a hair salon and an additional space for a future business.

In addition to the building permits at Market Street, Scott said she has also recently issued permits for the Tropical Smoothie Cafe which will be located next door to Five Guys Burgers & Fries. She has also issued a permit for Southern Classic Daiquiri Factory to go into the Shops at Ardmore.

Scott added that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, located at Commerce Plaza, is now close to opening.

“We’ve already given them their CO (Certificate of Occupancy), so as soon as they get their products in, they should be good to go,” Scott said.
