Man critically injured in Johnston County train collision

A man was critically injured in a Johnston County collision with a train Saturday night.

At around 9:08 p.m., Joe Lyons, 51, of Ravia, reportedly went around the flashing rail road crossing arms on State Highway 1, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Lyons was struck by a BNSF train passing through the crossing and pinned in his vehicle. First responders managed to free Lyons from the vehicle and he was transported to Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo, according to OHP.

Air Evac then transported Lyons to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, trunk, external and internal injuries, as well as other possible unknown injuries.
