Ardmore man facing charges in APD rape investigation
An Ardmore man is facing charges for first degree rape in relation to an ongoing sexual assault investigation.
A little after midnight on March 1, Ardmore Police Department Sgt. Larry Payne said officers were advised of a victim in their late 20s who had reportedly been raped a few days earlier in the 500 block of 11th Ave. SE.
According to Carter County court documents, the incident is believed to have occurred on or around Feb. 26. After an initial investigation into the report, Payne said officers allegedly found enough evidence to support arresting an Ardmore couple for first degree rape.
Henry Charles Redhat, 28, was arrested along with Brooke Lynn Davidson, 27, on March 1. Charges for first degree rape were filed against Redhat the following day.
However, District Attorney Craig Ladd declined to file charges against Davidson at this time, pending further investigation.
Court documents state that the victim was allegedly unconscious at the time of the incident and did not give their consent. Payne said the victim is currently safe and in good health.
The investigation is ongoing and there is a possibility of further charges being filed.
Redhat is currently being held at the Carter County Jail with a bond of $50,000. A preliminary conference is scheduled for April 2 and the victim has filed a no contact order against Redhat.
If found guilty Redhat could face up to 15 years of imprisonment.
