A Texas couple is facing Carter County charges for child neglect after Ardmore police allegedly found reason to believe the couple had failed to protect their child from illegal drugs.

Court records show that around 8:01 p.m. on March 4, Ardmore Police Department officers responded to the 2000 block of North Rockford in reference to an officer’s request.

Through further investigation, officers reported that Domonic Lee Woodring, 43, and Shanta Deneen Woodring, 44, of Cypress, Texas had allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision for their 3-year-old child while illegal drugs were present, according to Carter County court documents.

Shanta Woodring allegedly had cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her possession at the time, according to court documents.

The couple was arrested and are both facing felony charges for child neglect. Shanta Woodring is facing additional misdemeanor charges for unlawful possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

If found guilty of child neglect, the couple could face life imprisonment in the Department of Corrections, up to one year in the county jail or a fine of up to $5,000, or both a fine and imprisonment.
