Daddy daughter dance set for tonight

Fathers and daughters can cut a rug for a good cause tonight. The A+ Reading Room of Ardmore will hold their 17th annual Daddy Daughter Dance this evening at the Ardmore Convention Center.

The event will benefit the Ardmore nonprofit that helps young readers overcome reading difficulties. According to a flyer for this year’s event, 10 reading specialists are helping 194 students, either after class or over the summer, with reading, writing and spelling.

The A+ Reading Room was started in 1996 as an effort to teach the fundamental structure of the English language to children who have language learning differences or dyslexia, according to the group’s website. They also offer training and mentoring for elementary school teachers.

Tickets begin at $25 per couple and a photographer will also be on site for $15 portraits. The dance for daughters between 3 years old and first grade will begin at 5:30 p.m., and daughters in second through fifth grades will begin at 7 p.m.
