An Ardmore woman was arrested for burglary in the first degree Wednesday night after allegedly forcing her way into a local residence.

At around 10:50 p.m. on March 25, Ardmore Police Department Sgt. Larry Payne said officers were dispatched to the 800 block of E St. SE in reference to an unknown woman, later identified as 38-year-old Telesa Palmer, allegedly forcing her way into a residence and assaulting the homeowner.

“She approached the house and was banging on the door complaining of barking dogs,” Payne said. “Someone in the residence opened the door and she forced her way into the house.”

There was reportedly a small struggle between the homeowner and Palmer during which the homeowner sustained some minor scratches, Payne said.

“But a second person came from inside the house and they were able to push her back outside of the house and lock the door and call the police,” Payne said.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly located Palmer a short distance from the residence and took her into custody. Payne said officers believe Palmer may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Palmer is currently being held at the Carter County jail for the complaint of first degree burglary.
