The Ardmore Police Department and Ardmore Fire Department are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred at a local hotel earlier this week.

At around 11 p.m. on Monday, May 4, firefighters responded to a call concerning a vehicle on fire in the parking lot of a hotel located in the 2700 block of W. Broadway.

AFD Fire Marshall Tim Lee said a bystander hooked the vehicle up to their pickup truck and pulled it away from the building and other vehicles before firefighters arrived on scene. This may have prevented the fire from spreading to the hotel and causing any further damage, he said.

After the fire was extinguished by members of the fire department it was discovered that the incident was suspicious in nature. Lee said evidence found at the scene left investigators to believe the fire may have been arson.

The incident has been assigned to an APD detective and is currently under investigation. At this time no suspects have been identified.

“We have one or two leads that we’re following up on right now but we haven’t had any luck with anything,” said APD Capt. Claude Henry.

The vehicle was unoccupied and there were no reported injuries. The estimated loss from damage to the vehicle is $3,000.
