At around 11:50 p.m. Monday night Ardmore police received word that an individual with a gunshot wound had been dropped off at the local hospital.

APD Captain Eric Hamblin said the man reportedly had a gunshot wound to his abdomen, which required surgery. The individual was out of surgery as of Tuesday morning and police plan to talk to him Wednesday.

However, the events that led up to the man being dropped off at the hospital are still unclear. “We’re still trying to figure out what exactly happened,” Hamblin said.

Hamblin said officers were able to make contact with the person who dropped the wounded individual off.

At this time, police do not believe the individual who dropped him off inflicted his wounds and he is not being considered as a suspect.

Ardmore Mercy Hospital reportedly increased security measures while police worked to secure the scene. However, patient care was not interrupted.

The investigation into the events surrounding the man’s injuries is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
