An Ardmore man was apprehended Friday in connection with a recent investigation after a man with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the hospital late at night.

Ardmore Police Department Captain Eric Hamblin said police arrested 41-year-old Jamontra Dion Willis on an alleged assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge.

After speaking with the victim Wednesday, Jan. 15, Hamblin said officers were able to identify Willis as the suspect, adding that several other individuals contacted during the investigation also allegedly named Willis as the suspect.

Willis and the victim are believed to have gotten into an altercation, which allegedly led Willis to shoot the victim in the abdomen. The victim was dropped off at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore around 11:50 p.m. Monday.

As of Wednesday, the victim was reportedly in stable condition. Hamblin said Willis was not the individual who dropped the victim off.

Willis is currently being held at the Carter County Jail for the felony charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
