Ardmore man facing charges for kidnapping, strangulation
An Ardmore man is facing felony charges after allegedly forcing entry into a local residence, later causing “great bodily injury” to a victim in the incident.
At 4:02 a.m. on Jan. 22, Ardmore Police Department Sgt. Larry Payne said officers responded to the 900 block of C St. SE in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, officers reportedly discovered that the victim had been tied up by their hands and feet in the bedroom of the residence.
The owner of the residence, 25-year-old Robert Spangler, is believed to have forced entry into the victim’s family’s residence prior to the incident, and allegedly demanded that the victim leave with him.
“(The victim) left willingly at that time and they walked back to his residence in the 900 block of C St. SE and into his bedroom, where the domestic assault took place,” Payne said. “It involved strangulation and blows to the face.”
Officers reportedly observed bruising on the victim’s face and forehead and marks around their wrists and ankles. The victim was later transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.
Police took Spangler into custody and he is currently being held at the Carter County Jail for domestic assault and battery by strangulation, kidnapping and first degree burglary. Spangler also had a warrant out for his arrest for failure to pay for a previous possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
Spangler’s bond is set at $10,000 and a court date is scheduled for March 5.
