Plainview teams sweep on day two of Port City Classic

After opening the Port City Classic tournament on Thursday with a pair of losses, the Plainview basketball teams rebounded on Friday in a big way at Catoosa High School.
 

The No. 19 Lady Indians took down host Catoosa in their consolation semifinal contest, while the Indians defeated Claremore.

After letting a lead slip away against Tahlequah on Thursday, the No. 19 Lady Indians showed they could finish a game on Friday against Catoosa.
 

Led by Emilee Hudson’s 19 points, the Lady Indians were able to shut down the hosts and earn a place in the consolation championship game.
 

Plainview led 9-8 at the end of the first, before a 20-point second quarter gave them a 29-15 lead heading to the locker room.
 

A 12-5 run in the third kept the Lady Indians in front, as they closed the game out scoring 11 points in the fourth.
 

Peyton Jones added 10 points for Plainview, with Regan Chaney scoring five, while Amiya Howard, Megan Winchester and Kyra Treadwell each scored four points apiece. Taylor Barnes put in three points.

A tough opening round loss didn’t seem to phase the Plainview Indians on Friday, as they won a high-scoring contest against the Claremore Zebras.
 

Plainview opened the game on an 18-7 run, before taking a 32-21 lead into the break.
 

The Indians kept up the pressure in the third with a 15-14 frame, before being outscored 21-14 in the fourth quarter.
 

Blake Nowell led Plainview with 19 points followed by Tyler Berryhill with 17 points.
 

Brock Parham added 13 points with Drake Sisemore scoring eight points.
