Tommy Lynn Geurin, 68, passed away on September 20, 2022. A celebration of his life will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Centennial Chapel of Harvey Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Born on December 29, 1953, Tommy was the third child of Thomas Leon Geurin and Willa Dean Geurin. He was a brother to Bob, Larry, Carole and Richard. During his formative years, Tommy became an outdoor enthusiast as a member of the Boy Scouts. He always looked forward to Scoutsponsored camping and hiking trips.
Tommy graduated Ardmore High School in 1972, and soon thereafter married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Shelley Ann Tyler. Shelley and Tommy would have been married 50 years on November 16, 2022.
Tommy was a loyal and dedicated worker, having only two jobs during his teenage and adult years. First, with Pak-A-Sak for approximately 6 years, and then with Uniroyal/Michelin for 46 years until his retirement in 2019.
He was very proud of his two children, Shawn and Jennifer. He took great joy in watching his son play football and baseball for the Ardmore Tigers, as well as watching his daughter cheer and play tennis for the Tigers.
Aside from being a great father and husband, Tommy was a Member of the Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ and a recreational coach in the Ardmore youth leagues. He was a servant leader in all facets of his spiritual and daily life, taking pride in the accomplishments of others, not his own. His love of the outdoors never waned. Throughout his life, Tommy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will greatly miss all of his fellow outdoorsmen. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to numerous national parks in the United States and Canada.
Tommy cherished his family immensely and was a caregiver, mentor, advisor and friend to all of them. Survivors include: his wife, Shelley; his son, Shawn Geurin and his wife, Carmella; his daughter, Jennifer Marshall and her husband Rich; his grandchildren, Hannah Kennedy and her husband Gage; Nick Marshall and his fiancé, Kaylee Wilson; Lauren Marshall; and Jake Geurin; and his great-grandchildren, Audrey and Beau Kennedy. Pallbearers will be Danny Wheeler, Terry Marris, Danny Groomer, Todd Davis, Tim Butler and Duane Christian. Honorary bearers will be Jeff Henry, Harry Harkins, Bobby Russell and Drema Gray.
